CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Hockey team traveled to Cortland to take on the Red Dragons this evening. An electrifying second period would push the Lakers past the Red Dragons, despite a late third period comeback by Cortland.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Tommy Cahill got the Lakers on the board first this evening, getting an assist from Ryan Bunka just over 8 minutes into the first period. Tommy continued his hot start to the season scoring his third goal of the season.

Cortland would tie the game at one with a goal coming in with just over five minutes remaining in the first period.

Oswego would receive their second power play of the night with just over 30 seconds of play remaining in the first period.

The contest would remain tied going into the second period. Cal Schell had eight saves in the first period of play.

The Lakers would come out swinging in the second period of play, scoring 40 seconds on their power play. Alex DiCarlo would score his second goal of the season, assisted by Tommy Cahill and Daniel Colabufo.

Just over a minute later, Thomas Rocco would score his fourth goal of the season, getting an assist from Connor Sleeth.

30 seconds later, Jackson Arcan would score his first goal of the season, getting an assist from Alex DiCarlo and Shane Bull.

Oswego would score their fifth goal of the night 3 minutes and 32 seconds into the period, with Tommy Cahill scoring his second goal of the night. Trent Grimshaw would be credited with the assist to Cahill.

Cortland then would score their second goal of the night shortly after Cortland pulled their starting goaltender, bringing the score to 5-2.

Oswego would hold a 5-2 lead going into the final period of play.

Cal Schell would add six more saves in goal for Oswego, and Oswego would add 17 shots in the second period of play.

Cortland would close the gap late in the third period, erasing the Lakers 3 point lead.

Cal Schell would finish with 23 saves on the night, and Oswego would hold on and secure their third straight conference win of the season.

The Lakers will travel to Geneseo on Friday, November 18th to take on the Knights who are the #3 ranked team in the country. The Lakers look to continue their hot streak against the Knights, and continue to climb the polls.
