OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Hockey team handed the Cortland Red Dragons their first loss of the season in the first of back-to-back matchups. Lexi Levy had several impressive saves during the game, and Simone Bednarik scored the go-ahead goal to aid the Lakers in victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Oswego was successful in killing two penalties during the first period. Lexi Levy had four saves.

Oswego outshot Cortland 8-5, but just over 14 minutes into the first period, Cortland scored, leaving the Lakers down 1-0 at the first intermission.

The second period started with both teams trading power play opportunities.

Nearly halfway through the second period, Mack Hull scored to tie the game at one apiece, her second goal of the season. She was assisted by Avery Webster and Simone Bednarik.

With eight seconds left in the second period, Simone Bednarik scored on an impressive backhand shot to give Oswego the lead, 2-1, entering the second intermission.

Lexi Levy had eight saves in the second period, and kept Cortland off the scoreboard in the period.

The third period, while scoreless, was still full of drama as both teams had multiple opportunities to score.

Oswego managed to kill all four penalties during the game.

Lexi Levy ended the game with 19 saves, backing up her NEWHL Goalie of the Week performances against Morrisville.

The Lakers wrapped up their complete performance by winning several key faceoffs down the stretch.
