OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Ice Hockey team celebrated senior night with a 3-1 victory over NEWHL opponent SUNY Canton. Sophomore Kyleigh Grugin scored the game winning goal in the third period for the Lakers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Laker offense started off strong after the puck drop, putting 11 shots up within the game's first six minutes.
- Freshman Ashlyn McGrath kicked off the scoring for the Lakers at 6:46 in the first frame, putting home a rebound from a Rachel Corbett slapshot. Fellow Freshman Rylee Preston was also credited with an assist.
- Both teams exchanged numerous shots for the next ten minutes of the period, but we're unable to capitalize.
- At 16:05, the Roos knotted the game on a shot from the blue line that trickled into the net.
- Oswego received three power-play chances in the second period, and fired 12 shots during the opportunities, but failed to break the tie.
- Between the first two periods, the Lakers outshot the Roos 54-11, and won the faceoff battle 22-11.
- Two minutes into the third period, Sophomore Morgan Shines set up Grugin in front of the net and beat the Canton goalie with a top-shelf goal to tilt the scoreboard in the Laker's favor.
- Canton received a power-play halfway through the frame, but a clutch Oswego penalty kill protected the one-goal lead.
- At the 12:36 mark, Avery Webster fired a shot on goal which was rebounded by Simone Bednarik and finally finished off by Ariella Haas, extending the lead to 3-1.
- Canton would go scoreless throughout the remainder of the senior night contest.

Oswego will hit the road for a 7:00 PM matchup versus conference opponent Potsdam on February 15.
