ONEONTA, N.Y. – Behind 19 points and eight rebounds from junior
Devin Green, the No. 14 Oswego State men's basketball team defeated Oneonta by a 63-53 score and sewed up the top seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Conference Championship Tournament. The Lakers improved their record to 21-2 and 15-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Green scored 10 of Oswego's first 20 points as the Lakers built a 20-10 lead 12 minutes into the contest.
- The teams traded baskets down the stretch of the opening half for a 31-23 Laker lead at the break.
- In the second half, the lead grew to 14 when the score was 56-42 with 6:54 left to play.
- Oneonta made a 9-0 run to cut the game back to five, but a pair of layups by senior Brendan Mulson and free throws by Jamal Achille clinched the win.
- Sophomore Jeremiah Sparks added 10 points while Mulson and Achille finished with nine each.
- Junior Kaleb Cook tied Green for the team-lead with eight rebounds and added seven points.
- The Lakers hit 42.6% of their shots in the contest while holding Oneonta to 27.5%.
- Oswego came into the contest ranked fifth nationally in scoring defense at 59.6 points per contest and held Oneonta below that mark.
- Oneonta won the rebounding battle, 48-41, despite the Lakers ranking eighth in the nation with a plus-9 average rebounding margin.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers return home for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with Brockport on Friday in the Max Ziel Gymnasium and then will honor their seniors on Saturday at 5 p.m. against Fredonia.
