Men's Lacrosse Win Back and Forth Battle

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Lacrosse team battled back and forth throughout the contest with the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's (L.I.) but were able to turn it up late in the fourth quarter to win their third game of the 2022 campaign. 

 

THE BASICS

  • Final Score:  Oswego 10, St. Joseph's (L.I.) 9

  • Location:  Danzi Stadium, Patchogue, N.Y.

  • Records:  Oswego 3-2, St. Joseph's (L.I.) 1-2

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lakers got out to a quick lead, just 17 seconds into the contest Galvin Elston scored the opening goal, unassisted. 

  • The Golden Eagles scored the next two goals at 11:30 and 10:19 to give their team the first lead of the game. 

  • Ryan Eccles tied the contest for the second time at 7:25 of the first quarter. 

  • St. Joseph's grabbed back the lead with 5:32 remaining in the quarter. 

  • Again the Lakers responded by tying the game at 3's. Elston scored his second of the game at 12:56 in the second quarter. 

  • For the third time the Golden Eagles took the lead back from Oswego with seven minutes remaining in the first half. 

  • Elston scored his third goal to tie the game for the fifth time in the contest at five goals a side. 

  • Eccles reversed the trend, scoring the Lakers sixth goal, giving them their first lead since 17 seconds into the contest. Ryan Dumont assisted the Eccles goal. The goal was scored a man-up. 

  • With 9:43 remaining in the third quarter the Golden Eagles tied the game once again at six. 

  • Max Brodman continued the trend, scoring the seventh goal for Oswego with just 4:12 remaining in the third stanza. The goal was unassisted. 

  • With the first two-goal lead for either team throughout the contest, Liam Sexton put the Lakers up 8-6 less than a minute after Brodman's tally. 

  • In the fourth quarter the Golden Eagles scored two goals in a row to tie the contest back at eight goals a piece. 

  • In a great fourth quarter effort as the clock dwindled, Weston Gray and Jack Delany scored goals for the Green and Gold just 1:02 apart. The goals were assisted by Delaney and Sexton. 

  • With 1:31 as both teams had all game, St. Joseph's fought back, scoring their ninth tally.

  •  It was deemed to be too late for the Golden Eagles to tie the contest as the Lakers were victorious 10-9.

Oswego heads home to take on the Wolves of Keuka College at 1:00p.m. on Saturday March 19.
