SYRACUSE, N.Y. – In a vote by the conference coaches, the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named the Oswego State Men's Basketball Coaching Staff as the Coaching Staff of the Year. The Lakers are led by
Jason Leone and assisted by
Derrick Cahill,
Bill Farden, and
Jake Pritchard.
Oswego is currently 25-2 overall and went 17-1 in SUNYAC play this season. The team secured the 2022 SUNYAC Men's Basketball Championship with an average margin of victory of 27.5 points last weekend.
The Lakers featured four All-Conference selections this season with sophomore
Jeremiah Sparks, junior
Devin Green, and seniors
Julien Crittendon and
Brendan Mulson all earning spots on the All-SUNYAC teams.
In terms of national rankings, Oswego's field-goal percentage defense (36.8%), scoring defense (59.4), scoring margin (21.6) and won-loss percentage (92.6%) all rank third in the country out of the 411 programs in Division III.
For Head Coach
Jason Leone, this is his fifth Coaching Staff of the Year honor, including being named the SUNYAC Coach of the Decade for the years 2010-2019.
Oswego continues their season on Friday with a 3:05 p.m. NCAA matchup with Hood College (20-6) at Swarthmore in Pennsylvania.
