Men's Lacrosse Battles With Knights, Falling 11-10

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Lacrosse team traveled to rival Geneseo to take on the Knights in Friday night lights fashion. The Lakers finished the contest with six different goal scorers, with four scoring multiple. The Lakers and Knights were back and forth all game but the Lakers ultimately fell short at the end.

Final Score:  Geneseo 11 , Oswego State 10

Location:  College Stadium, Geneseo, N.Y.

Records:  Geneseo 6-5 (SUNYAC 4-0) , Oswego 8-3 (SUNYAC 3-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Q1

  • Ryan Eccles scored the first Laker goal at the 10:11 mark to the Green and Gold the first lead of the game. Gavin Elston assisted the goal. 

  • Geneseo went on to score three unanswered goals, bringing the score to 3-1 with 4:21 remaining in the quarter. 

  • Weston Gray scored Oswego's second man-up goal of the game, cutting the lead to 3-2. Elston picked up his second assist of the contest. 

Q2

  • Liam Sexton started the quarter by tying the contest at three's with 12:48 remaining in the half. 

  • From here the Lakers and Knights traded goals back and forth. The Lakers fourth goal came from Gray, assisted by Corey O'Connor while Corey O'Connor scored the Lakers' fifth goal, assisted by Eccles. 

  • Eccles scored the final goal of the first half, bringing the Lakers in front, 6-5. 

Q3

  • O'Connor added the first tally of the second half bringing the lead to 7-5 for the Lakers. 

  • Geneseo put their foot on the gas, scoring the next three goals to take back the lead. 

  • Ryan Dumont then tied the game once again, this time at eight goals a piece. 

Q4

  • The Knights came out firing in the final quarter, scoring the next three goals to bring their lead to 11-8. 

  • This Lakers in desperation to climb back into the game scored the next two goals, bringing the game within one goal. 

  • Unfortunately the clock worked against the Lakers as they did not have time to tie the heavyweight tilt at the end.
  • Aiden Kenyon finished the contest with 17 saves. 

WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers take to the road to take on the Red Dragons of Oneonta on Sat. April 23rd at 3:00PM.
