Endwell, N.Y. – The Oswego State baseball team completed a double-header sweep today versus conference opponent New Paltz. The Laker offense tallied 20 hits in game 1, and strong pitching by Kieran Finnegan completed the game 2 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1

New Paltz got out to an early lead to start the game, pulling ahead 2-0 after the first inning.

In the third, Sophomore Greg Carullo and Senior Paul Tammaro would hit back-to-back doubles to pull the Lakers closer, 2-1.

Tammaro would eventually come around to score on a throwing error by the pitcher to even up the scoreboard.

Oswego would load up the bases later in the inning thanks to a single by Lukas Olsson and two walks by Ryan Weiss and Kyle Lauria.

Senior Julian Drew would send them all home on a grand slam to pull the Lakers ahead, 6-2.

Drew would strike again in the fourth, driving in three more runs to make it a 9-2 ballgame.

With two outs in the fifth, Ryan Enos blasted sixth homerun of the year to give the Lakers a 11-2 lead, driving in Tammaro after he reached on a bunt single.

Senior CJ McCarthy got in on the action in the sixth inning, singling home Ryan Weiss for the Lakers eleventh run of the game.

In the seventh, Freshman Tishawn Featherstone added two more runs to the ledger, driving home Tim Schinto with his first career home run to make it 13-2.

A Sam Allen walk and a Frank Levanti double would put the Lakers up 15-2 later in the inning.

New Paltz would cut the lead down to 15-6 in the top of the ninth inning, but ultimately came up short.

Anthony Van Fossen settled into the game after giving up two runs in the first, tossing six straight scoreless innings and recording five strikeouts.

The Oswego offense showed up in a big way, tallying 20 hits and drawing six walks in game one.
GAME 2

Unlike the first game the Lakers put up the first run of game two, as Olsson knocked a single to center field to score Tammaro, who reached via walk.

The Lakers threatened again in the third with two runners in scoring position, but couldn't push a run across, keeping it a 1-0 ballgame.

Olsson added another RBI to his total in the fifth inning, scoring Enos on a double to left field and moving the Lakers ahead 2-0.

Finnegan started the game for the Lakers and went all seven innings, throwing a three-hitter to shutout the Hawks.

Tammaro added two walks and stole four bases in the game, putting himself in position to score multiple times.
