NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Oswego State softball team played SUNY New Paltz in a double header. Playing in New Paltz, Oswego came up just short in the first game; they tried to mount a comeback in the seventh inning by scoring three runs, but fell short 4-3. In the second game the Lakers took the 9-1 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1

New Paltz started off the game scoring two runs to take the immediate 2-0 lead over Oswego.

In the second inning, New Paltz added two more runs to the scoreboard, Lakers trail 4-0.

Oswego started to mount a late comeback in the seventh inning after an error helped bring in Zoe Mennig in for the Lakers first run.

Ellie Mahoney grounded out but brought in Adriana Marini for another run, the Lakers brought the contest tol 4-2

Samantha Morgan hit a double and collected an RBI after Madison Hoeflich scored.

New Paltz managed to hold off Oswego's comeback to win 4-3.
Game 2

The home team opened up scoring after a single hit down left field to bring in a run, the Lakers trailed 1-0.

Oswego responded with a run in the second inning off of a Mahoney bringing in Mennig, this tied the contest at one a piece.

New Paltz snatched the lead back, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning.

The Hawks added to their lead in the third and fourth innings, scoring three runs within the two innings.

New Paltz closed out the game scoring three runs in the sixth inning.

The Lakers will travel to take on The Red Dragons of SUNY Oneonta in a double header. The contest is set for 12 p.m. on Saturday April 23.
