OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Lakers Softball team hosted the Cardinals of Plattsburgh this morning, splitting the double header. The Lakers lost a hold of the first game, letting up five runs in the sixth inning for the 6-2 loss. The Lakers bounced back with a dominant 8-0 victory in the second game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- Oswego started off on a strong note in Game 1, putting up two runs in the bottom half of the first.
- The two RBI's came off the bat of Fiona Higgins after Zoe Mennig and Taylor Dubois both reached via error.
- After both teams went down in order in the second, Plattsburgh tacked on their first run of the game in the third, making it 2-1.
- Oswego's offense put runners on base in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, but failed to cash in on the opportunities.
- Plattsburgh attacked in the sixth inning, scoring five runs to take a 6-2 advantage. This was the final.
Game 2
- The Lakers started off just as they did in the first game, but scored one more this game.
- Oswego was up 3-0 after the first inning with a single from Zoe Mennig and a two-RBI single from Fiona Higgins.
- After four scoreless inning the Lakers struck again, Higgins doubled to left field, scoring Aleah Yaizzo.
- Madison Hoeflich continued the Laker rally, scoring Mennig and advancing Adriana Marini to third base.
- Kylie Detz then singled through the right side to earn the RBI as Marini scored.
- Chelsea Sellars added an RBI with a ground out to shortstop, bringing the Laker lead to seven runs.
- Mennig then ended the game for the Lakers in six innings with a single to center field scoring Yaizzo for the 8-0 victory.

Oswego State will return home this Friday in a 4:00 PM matchup versus conference opponent Cortland.
