Day Three Regional Recap

AMBLER, P.A.  –  The Oswego State Baseball team finished their game against Husson this morning, defeating the Eagles by a score of 12-10. This win moved the Lakers on to the Regional Championship game with a record of 2-1 in the double elimination tournament. The Lakers took down the Knights by a score of 11-4 in the first game. This forced the seventh game of the tournament, this game got through the fourth inning until mother nature had other ideas once again. The game will resume tomorrow at approximately 11am. 

THE BASICS

Location:  Skip Wilson Field, Temple University's Ambler Campus, Pennsylvania

Records: #2 Oswego State 32-11 (3-1 Regional Round), #1 Arcadia 40-8 (2-1 Regional Round)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1 vs. Arcadia

  • Arcadia struck first early in the game off of a sacrifice fly, bringing in one run. 

  • In the second inning, Ryan Weiss tied the game at two with a solo shot to left field. 

  • The Lakers took the lead in the top of the fourth inning where Jacob Levine poked a single opposite field to score Kyle Lauria after he reached by walk and then went on to steal second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch. 

  • The Lakers took the momentum into the field taking the Knights down one, two, three in the bottom of the fourth inning.

  • Oswego came out swinging in the top of the fifth inning with the top of the order due up. 

  • Paul Tammaro singled to center field after sitting on a 0-1 count, Ryan Enos was then hit by a pitch. 

  • Kyle Lauria came up and singled to left field to score Tammaro and advance Enos to third. 

  • With two outs, Julian Drew came up and hit a HUGE single to right center field with a 2-2 count, Lauria and Enos both scored to bring the contest to 5-1. 

  • The Knights in the bottom of the fifth inning earned two runs to bring the contest to 5-3. 

  • The sixth would go scoreless after Alec Conrad got the Lakers out of a situation with a runner on third base with one out.

  • The seventh inning then also went scoreless. 

  • With McCarthy, Frank Levanti and Tammaro all getting on base via hits, Enos stepped up and hit a bases clearing double, bringing the Lakers lead to 8-3.  

  • Lauria was then hit by a pitch and then stole second successfully. 

  • Weiss then took the count to 3-2 and eventually walked. 

  • Drew cracked a line drive to left field, scoring Lauria and Enos, bringing the lead to seven. 

  • Levine reached on a fielder's choice to put runners on first and third. 

  • McCarthy then singled to left field and earned the Lakers final run of the contest to bring them to 11-3.

  • The eighth inning went scoreless for both teams. 

  • In the bottom of the ninth inning, Arcadia added one run which ultimately was their final run. 

Game 2 vs. Arcadia

 
  • In the winner take all Regional Championship game the Lakers wasted no time putting up runs in the first inning. 

  • In that first inning the Lakers plated four runs. These came by an RBI single from Lauria and a three-run homerun from Ryan Weiss

  • The second inning went scoreless as the Lakers and Knights retired six of ten batters in the inning. 

  • After an Arcadia hit by pitch and a single the Knights got on the board with a SAC fly. 

  • The rest of third and the fourth inning as well went quietly before the rain postponed the contest until tomorrow at 11am.
