OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Soccer team defeated the Bomber of Ithaca this Sunday afternoon by by a score of 3-1. All four goals in this contest came in the first half, Oswego would not allow the Bombers back into the contest to defeat them for the first time since 1996.

HOW IT HAPPENED

This game started off a bit chippy as Ithaca drew a yellow card just 6:40 into the contest.

It seemed this gave Ithaca a bit of a momentum boost as they scored the first goal of the game just 1:22 after the card was given.

HaJoon Lee did not take a liking to being down so early as he ripped one into the back of the net a little over three minutes after Ithaca's first.

At 33:40, Kieran Gilroy broke the stalemate, putting the Lakers up 2-1.

This goal gave Oswego all of the momentum they needed as Anastasios Diacovasilis netted the Lakers' final goal of the contest, putting them at a two-goal advantage.

In the second half, the chippy play continued as Ithaca was dealt a second yellow card 48:11 into the contest.

Once again, the Bombers seemed to feed off of the energy of the yellow card as they had the offensive edge over Oswego directly after the card was dealt.

Despite an effort to tie the game, Oswego's goaltending and defense came up huge to shut the door and defeat Ithaca for the first time in 26 years and the first time on their home field in 27 years.

Oswego was out-shot by the Bombers by a margin of 16-9 in the contest but Oswego made their shots count, putting six of their nine on goal while Ithaca only put two on net.

Lee led the Lakers with three total shots in his 80 minutes played.
