Simzer Scores 4 En Route to 5-1 Victory Over Keystone

La Plume, PA  –  The Oswego State Field Hockey team extended their win streak to SIX games this afternoon with a 5-1 win over the Keystone College Giants. Kacie Simzer tied the all time single-game goals record along with the single-game points record in the contest with four goals and eight total points.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Just one minute and 13 seconds into the contest, Simzer struck first for the Lakers as Kaitlyn Ahle assisted the goal. 
  • With back and forth play in the first quarter, the Lakers faced a situation they have yet to see this season. 
  • Keystone tied the contest at one goal a piece at the 14:12 mark of the first quarter. 
  • Once again Simzer came out of the break with a quick goal, scoring in just one minute and 11 seconds for her second of the game. 
  • The remainder of the second quarter was a defensive battle as there were a total of three penalty corners and four shots for both teams combined after the goal. 
  • As Oswego adjusted every quarter, they came out of the gate viciously, Kaitlyn Mastracco scored the Lakers' third tally of the game just one minute and 20 seconds into the quarter off of a penalty shot. 
  • Erica Scheblein had her first true test this afternoon and she was up to the task. 
  • From the 36:08 mark to the 43:21 mark, Scheblein saved five shots from Keystone and the defense along with Scheblein turned away four penalty corners in that time frame to keep them in the lead by two goals. 
  • In the fourth quarter the Lakers struck early again as Simzer scored her eighth goal of the season and third of the game! 
  • After a goalie change for Keystone, Simzer got to work testing the new keeper early, just two minutes after taking over the net, Simzer scored her FOURTH goal of the game, tying Oswego's single-game goals record as well as the single-game points record in one goal! Bryleigh Beauchat assisted the goal. 
  • This was the final goal of the contest as the Lakers ran away with this one 5-1. 
  • Scheblein totaled nine saves in the contest, nearly half of her season's total.

Oswego State travel to the North Country to take on the St. Lawrence Saints on Saturday, September 17th at 1:00PM.
