BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Field Hockey team took their first victory of the 2022 season this evening against the Mavericks of Medaille University. Oswego had five multiple-point scorers including Kaitlyn Ahle with EIGHT points, tying the single game record for the Lakers. Ahle also is in the record books tied for fourth with three goals. Megan Delaney earned herself multiple spots in the record books, tying the single game assists record and is now tied for seventh all time for points in a single game with seven. As a team the Lakers collected 32 points, which is good enough for second in their history, just behind the 2019 squad with 33 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Just 32 seconds into the contest, Kacie Simzer struck gold for the Lakers as she scored their first goal of the 2022 campaign, Ahle assisted.
After ruthless offensive pressure by the Lakers, Delaney scored her first of the season at 4:27, pushing the lead to two.
Oswego continued the quarter strong, striking again at the 12:31 mark of the opening frame. Ellie Kazel netted her first of the season as Ahle added her second assist of the contest.
Just after a penalty corner by Kate McNally, Delaney got the ball back to McNally for the Lakers' fourth tally of the first quarter.
Oswego wasted no time as they continued their offensive zone presence.
Four minutes and 28 seconds into the second quarter McNally scored her second of the contest and the Lakers' second in a row. Simzer assisted the fifth goal.
Simzer decided to take matters into her own hands at the 23:33 mark of the contest, just two minutes and 31 seconds after she assisted the fifth goal. Simzer's goal was assisted by Molly Darcy.
In the 24th minute of the contest, Taylin Bauer showed off her skill as she compiled multiple shots on goal and notched an assist on Delaney's second of the contest. This was Bauer's first collegiate point.
The rest of the half went scoreless, the Lakers led 7-0 at half.
In the third quarter, Oswego continued their pressure, the score remained 7-0 going into the final quarter.
As the final quarter began, the Lakers put five shots on goal, the fifth found the back of the net off the stick of Ahle. Kazel assisted.
The Mavericks found a spark with eight minutes remaining, adding offensive pressure and testing freshman goalkeeper Jenna Davidson.
Ahle added another goal with just over six minutes remaining. Simzer added her final point of the contest, assisting the Lakers' ninth goal.
Nancy Pagliaroli scored her first goal of the 2022 regular season, extending the lead to 10 goals.
Delaney assisted the 10thand 11th goals and tied the single game assists record.
Kaitlyn Ahle also tied a single game record for total points with her third goal of the contest, earning eight points in the game.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will turn around to host Houghton in their first home game of the season at Laker Turf Stadium, the contest is set to start at 4:30PM.
