ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Volleyball team keeps their winning streak alive with a 3-1 win in Nazareth. This extends the Lakers winning streak to 8, and their win percentage to .667%. Cara Simplicio led the contest with 11 kills, while Mckenna Corbin notched 29 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers started the first match hot, as a service ace from Grace Taylor gave Oswego the 1-0 lead. The Lakers would go on a 4-0 run from there.

Nazareth battled back and tied the match up at 7-7. However, a kill by Cara Simplicio gave the Lakers the spark they needed as they would go up 8-7 and maintain the lead the rest of the match.

Oswego would go on another 4-0 run late in the match. Sydney Chiffriller was responsible for 3 of these points, all from kills. This gave the Lakers the 24-9 lead.

A service error from Nazareth ended the Golden Flyers 4-0 run of their own. The Lakers took the first match, 25-13.

The first point of the second match for the Lakers was a kill from Emma Fiorentine, matching Nazareth with a score of 1-1.

The Lakers found themselves behind early in the match. A block by Georgia Farry and Fiorentine would stop a 3-0 run by Nazareth, making it a score of 7-10.

The green and gold fought hard throughout the second match, but Nazareth would go on to win 25-19.

Oswego bounced back in the third match, going up 1-0 off a kill from Farry assisted by Taylor.

The Lakers continued to dominate the match, going on a 6-0 run, capped off by another kill from Farry, giving them the 9-2 lead.

A kill by Fiorentine turned into two service aces in a row for Emily Zeisler, giving Oswego a 14-4 advantage.

The Lakers would go on to win the third match, 25-14 off of an attack error from Nazareth.

Oswego started off the fourth match of the contest down 3-4, until a kill from Chiffriller tied the game up for the Lakers.

The score would remain close in the beginning of the match, the Lakers and Golden Flyers were tied 9-9 until another kill from Chiffriller gave Oswego the lead that they would keep the rest of the match.

A kill from Simplicio assisted by Zeisler gave Oswego a 20-13 lead. Oswego would continue to stay hot late and go on to win the match 25-16, solidifying their eighth win in a row.

Oswego will return home to Max Ziel Gymnasium on Friday, September 30th at 6:00 PM for a conference matchup against the Buffalo State Bengals.
