ALFRED, N.Y. – Oswego State Women's Basketball started off their 2023-24 campaign with a non-conference matchup with the Alfred University Saxons. In a low scoring affair, the Lakers fell short after a second half run by the home team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In an even first quarter, the Lakers and Saxons traded points with Alfred pulling just ahead with a 12-11 lead at the end of the first frame.
- Shania Iglesias scored 5 of the Lakers' 11 points in the quarter.
- The Lakers would score another 11 points in the second quarter while having their best defensive performance of the night, holding the home team to just 7 points.
- At halftime, the Lakers held a slim 22-19 lead.
- In the third quarter, the Saxon began to find their shots, scoring 17 points, led by 7 by Leah Harkendrider.
- Alfred pulled away in the final frame outscoring the Lakers by a score of 15-7.
- Oswego's largest offensive output came from Giavanna White-Principio who scored 12 points in 17 minutes off the bench.
