OSWEGO, N.Y. – Oswego State Women's Basketball returned to Max Ziel Gymnasium, the second time this weekend, for a Saturday afternoon conference matchup against the Plattsburgh Cardinals. The Lakers pulled out their second win of the weekend and SUNYAC campaign, with a dominate 70-54 win over the Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair, but Karleigh Leo opened the first for Oswego with a three-pointer.

Less than 7 minutes into play, both teams exchanged buckets, with the Cardinals adding three straight points to and the Lakers four, making the score 12-7 Oswego.

Mollie James opened the second quarter with a three extending the Lakers lead to 20-14.

As the second continued both teams traded offensive zone time, as Mya Smith of Plattsburgh made a layup and Mollie James with a jumper that made the score 24-19 Lakers.

With less than four minutes to go in the half, the Cardinals tied the game on a layup. Chastin Giles responded with a jumper that put the Lakers back ahead.

The Lakers scored eight straight points to end the 2nd quarter with a score of 34-24.

Plattsburgh outscored the Lakers 21-16 in the third quarter to mount a comeback. But with less than 7 minutes to play both teams once again exchanged buckets, to end the quarter with a score of 50-45 in Oswego's favor.

The Lakers pulled away in the fourth quarter, as they opened with an 11-0 run and went on to outscore the Cardinals 20-9.

The Lakers closed out the fourth quarter with a 70-54 victory and the weekend with two straight conference wins.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego will have a short two weeks off before returning to conference play on Sunday, December 17th at 1:00pm, when they tip-off against the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic. The Lakers look to continue their hot start to the SUNYAC campaign.
