HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lakers found themselves in the penalty kill early into the game, and were able to fend off the Bengals.

  • Tyler Flack scored the first goal of the evening 13 and a half minutes into the game. Flack was assisted by Trent Grimshaw and Quinn Warmuth.

  • Less than 20 seconds Later, Alex DiCarlo was able to put the beautiful indirect pass from the point into the back of the net and give the Lakers a 2-0 lead. DiCarlo was assisted by Troy Robillard and Shane Bull

  • The Laker defense kept the Bengals on the boards through the first period, only allowing them to get four shots on goal. Cal Schell saved all four attempts and the Lakers held a two point lead going into the second period.

  • Just 40 seconds into the second period, Connor Gatto scored the Lakers third goal of the evening. Gatto was assisted by Matt McQuade.

  • The remainder of the second period would be scoreless, as the Lakers took a 3-0 lead going into the final period. Cal Schell recorded four more saves in the net, bringing his total to eight through two.

  • Opening the third, the Lakers were able to hold off for six minutes on the penalty kill.

  • The Bengals pulled their goalie with six minutes remaining in the game, which allowed them to score their first goal with just over three minutes remaining.

  • The Bengals kept it risky, leaving their goalie out of the game, which ended up being the dagger for them as Tommy Cahill scored the fourth goal for the Lakers with two minutes remaining.

  • The Lakers defeated the Bengals by a score of 4-1, advancing to the SUNYAC finals. Cal Schell recorded seven more saves, finishing with 15 on the night.
