Men's Basketball Push Win Streak to 15 Games

OSWEGO, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Men's Basketball team hosted the New Paltz Hawks this afternoon. The Lakers proved to be too much for the Hawks as they scored over 100 points for the second game in a row, with four of their last five games eclipsing the mark. The Lakers have now won 15 games in a row.

Final Score: Oswego State 112 (19-2, 13-1 SUNYAC), New Paltz 53 (10-9, 8-5 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a slow start on offense, the Lakers were able to go on a 8-0 run to lead the Hawks by four points. 

  • Halfway through the first half, Oswego would lead the Hawks by 15. 

  • The Lakers would continue to score, pushing the tempo on offense. Eventually leading by 24 points going into halftime, with a score of 49-25. Oswego shot 52.8% from the field in the first half, while going almost 42% from behind the arc.The Lakers dominated on the glass, grabbing 27 rebounds to the Hawks' 15.

  • Plenty of Lakers were able to score points in the half, with nine different players converting on field goal attempts. Leading in points and rebounds was Devin Green with 13 points and five rebounds. Kaleb Cook led the team with three assists at the half. Ahkee Anderson put on a show in the first half with three steals on defense, which led the team at the half. 

  • The Lakers dominated the second half of play, shooting a phenomenal 53.3% from the field. Oswego continued to control the glass, grabbing 34 rebounds in the second half, bringing their total to 61. 

  • Oswego extended their lead to 59 points in the second half of play, eventually winning by 59 points. 

  • There were six different Lakers in double digit points this evening. Those players were Devin Green (13), Cartier Bowman (10), Jeremiah Sparks (14), Ahkee Anderson (10), and Sean Edwards (11). 

  • Cam Chance and Devin Green led the team with seven rebounds each. Ahkee Anderson led the team with six assists. 

WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will stay at home to take on the Oneonta Red Dragons tomorrow afternoon. The tip-off is scheduled for 4pm.
