AUBURNDALE, FL – The Oswego State Softball team continued their spring break trip to Florida, dropping two games to both Lakeland and Salve Regina.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One

Most of the game was controlled by Lakeland, who scored three runs in the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead.

The Lakeland lead was extended as the game got down to the late innings. Lakeland scored three more runs in the fifth inning, and five more runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Oswego was able to score a run in the bottom of the sixth, an Ellie Mahoney RBI single, but the Lakers did not score any more, and fell to Lakeland 11-1.

Christina Kania had a stolen base in the game.
Game Two

The game was scoreless for the first three innings, but was finally broken in the bottom of the fourth by Salve Regina, who scored one run.

However, the Lakers roared back in the top of the fifth with four runs off of a wild pitch and a three-run home run from Samantha Morgan.

Salve Regina tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh, and the game went into extra innings.

Ellie Mahoney had a two-run RBI double in the top of the eighth, and gave the Lakers a 6-4 lead.

Salve Regina would scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth and take the 7-6 win.

Maria Lutz pitched 6.2 innings, and had five strikeouts in the game.

Krista Souders and Mattison Phinney both had stolen bases in the game.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego State will complete their spring break road trip on Friday, March 17, and will play two games, against Lasell University and Carleton College.
