HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
-
Fiona Higgins pitched a complete game, giving up eight hits and five runs and taking home the win.
-
Ariana Guinassi started off the scoring in the second inning, hitting an RBI single as part of a two-hit game.
-
Krista Souders hit an RBI double, knocking in two more runs to give the Lakers a 3-0 lead.
-
RIT fought back in the sixth, tying the game at 3.
-
Oswego put together a rally in the seventh, seizing the lead off an RBI double from Samantha Morgan, an RBI single from Fiona Higgins, and a fielder's choice from Christina Kania. Entering the bottom of the seventh, the Lakers had a 6-3 lead.
-
While RIT attempted to rally themselves, they could only push across two runs, giving the Lakers a 6-5 win.
Game Two
-
Game two featured a good, old fashioned pitcher's duel. Both Oswego's Maria Lutz and RIT's Jessica Majot pitched seven innings before the game was called due to darkness.
-
The game was not without drama, as Oswego left runners in scoring position in the first four innings and the sixth. RIT left runners in scoring position in the first four innings as well, and had opportunities in the sixth and seventh.
-
The game was a story of both pitchers working their way into and out of trouble. Multiple times during the game, both teams had a runner at third with less than two outs, but could not push across a run.
