Lembo Earns 10 Points in 19-2 Victory Over Fredonia

OSWEGO, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Fredonia Blue Devils this afternoon. The Lakers could not be stopped as they handed the Blue Devils a 17 point loss. Shae McConnell and Isabella Lembo were simply unguardable, netting 11 goals combined in the win. The Lakers have now won four in a row, averaging over 15 goals per game during the streak.

Final Score: Oswego State 19 (7-2 , SUNYAC 2-0), Fredonia 2 (5-5 , SUNYAC 0-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lakers were hot right out of the gate, scoring eight goals in the first quarter of play. 

  • Lembo started the scoring for the Lakers, with her first goal being unassisted just over a minute into the game. 

  • 20 seconds later, Shae McConnell recorded her first goal, with an assist by Lembo and the Lakers had an early 2-0 lead. 

  • Two minutes passed by before the Blue Devils would score their first goal of the contest, which was the only goal scored by the Blue Devils in the first half. 

  • The Lakers added six more goals before the end of the quarter, with McConnell adding three more and having a hat trick in the first quarter of play. 

  • Scoring the other goals in the first for Oswego was Noelle Smith at 9:34, Sela Wiley at 4:36, and Lembo scored her second with 1:55 remaining. 

  • Oswego slowed down in the second quarter of play, netting just one goal. Scoring the lone goal of the quarter was McConnell.

  • The Lakers led 9-1 going into halftime behind five first half goals by McConnell. 

  • Kate McNally started the third quarter off strong for the Lakers, scoring a goal less than 30 seconds into the quarter. 

  • Not even one minute later, Julia Quirk netted another goal for the Lakers and they would lead by ten, with a score of 11-1. 

  • Almost five minutes had passed by until the Blue Devils would score their second and final goal of the afternoon with nine minutes remaining in the third. 

  • Oswego netted four more goals in the third quarter, giving them a 15-2 lead going into the fourth. The goals were scored by Alexis Hill, Lembo, and Katie Fierro. Lembo added two goals in the third, giving her four through three. 

  • The Lakers continued to put the points on Fredonia in the fourth, netting four more goals in the quarter. 

  • Wiley added two goals in the final quarter, completing her hat trick. 

  • McConnell added her sixth and final goal of the game with 5:43 remaining. 

  • With only 41 seconds remaining in the game, Lembo recorded her fifth goal, which would be the final goal scored of the match. 

  • Oswego ran up the scoreboard on the Blue Devils, defeating them by a score of 19-2. 

  • Isabella Lembo led the Lakers in points, recording ten total points this afternoon. Lembo had five goals and five assists. Shae McConnell led Oswego with six goals in the win. 

  • The Laker defense made life very easy for Sarah Kamide in net, as she recorded just two saves during the match. 

  • The Lakers forced 17 turnovers on defense, giving up just nine shots throughout the matchup. 

  • The women currently sit one game ahead of Cortland and are #1 in the SUNYAC with a 7-2 record.

The Lakers will be traveling to Geneseo for their next matchup, taking on the Knights. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, April 4th at 4pm.
