GENESEO, NY – The Oswego State Softball team fell to the Geneseo Knights in both games of a doubleheader on Friday. Both games took five innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED

At the end of the first inning, Geneseo held a 4-0 lead. Oswego scored their first runs of the day in the top of the second. Samantha Morgan continued a good day of hitting with a double to left field. Mattison Phinney drove in Morgan with an RBI double.

A few batters later, Kania drove in Phinney with an RBI single.

Krista Souders flew out to left field, and Tai Smith scored by tagging up. Oswego trailed at the end of the half-inning 4-3.

The Knights added two runs in the bottom of the second to make it 6-3.

In the top of the third, Ellie Mahoney scored off a fielder's choice grounded into by Kylie Detz.

Geneseo scored three more runs in the bottom of the third, one of which involved a delayed steal of home.

Entering the fifth inning, the Lakers trailed 11-4. Morgan had her second double of the game, and was driven in a few batters later by Detz.

The Knights scored twice in the bottom of the inning, and the game ended with the Lakers falling 13-5.

Another successful day at the plate for Samantha Morgan gives her 10 doubles for the season, and has raised her batting average to .316, and her OPS to .926. The SUNYAC average OPS across the league is .745. This makes Morgan just over 24% better than the SUNYAC average hitter at this point in the season.
