POTSDAM, NY – The Oswego State Softball team traveled to Potsdam this afternoon to take on the Bears in a double header matchup. The Lakers split the series with the Bears, winning game one, and falling in game two. Oswego had a late comeback in game two, but fell one run short of the Bears.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1

Neither team was able to record a run in the first three innings of play.

The Lakers opened up the scoring with a run coming in the top of the fourth inning. Fiona Higgins was brought in for a score off a ground out by Kayleigh Farro.

Oswego added two runs to their lead in the top of the fifth, with doubles coming from Fiona Higgins and Mattison Phinney.

The Bears added two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but ended up falling short to the Lakers.

Oswego took game one by a score of 3-2 in seven innings.

Fiona Higgins was unstoppable on the mound, recording 13 strikeouts, getting the win.

Phinney and Higgins both tied with two hits at the plate, each adding one run and an RBI.
Game 2

The Lakers fell behind early in game two, surrendering a run in the bottom of the second inning.

The Bears extended their lead to two with a run being scored in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Oswego found life in the top of the fifth inning, tying the match at two. Ariana Guinassi brought in two runs on a double up the middle, bringing in Tai Smith and Ellie Mahoney.

The Lakers came back out in the next inning and took the lead off a double by Samantha Morgan. Morgan brought in Abigail Edgar to give them a one run lead.

Potsdam recorded the walk off hit in the bottom of the seventh off a double hit, which brought in two runs.

The Lakers dropped game two by a score of 4-3.

Maria Lutz recorded four strikeouts on the mound in game two.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego State will have another double header on Tuesday, April 11th at home against Cazenovia College. Game one is set to begin at 3pm, and game two is set for 5pm
