CORTLAND, NY – The Oswego State Baseball team's season came to an end this afternoon after the Red Dragons posted 11 runs in the final three innings to come back from a 9-1 deficit after the top of the sixth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Owen Parliament started the scoring in the second inning for the Lakers with a blast to center field, giving the Lakers the 1-0 lead.

Cortland fired back immediately after, scoring on a single to left center field.

Jacob Levine scored Blake Van Dreason on a single to center field in the top of the third inning, giving the Lakers the one-run lead back, 2-1.

In the fifth inning the Lakers picked up four runs to push their lead to 5-1.

Tim Schinto doubled to center field, scoring Anthony Barone and Trey McGowan.

Van Dreason then singled to center field as well, scoring Schinto, pushing the lead to four runs.

The score would remain 5-1 until the top of the sixth inning where the Red Dragons found themselves in a bases loaded situation, Jacob Levine on a 2-0 count earned a grand slam to center field, putting the Red Dragons at a deficit of EIGHT runs (9-1).

The Red Dragons did not take light of the Levine grand slam as they scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning, bringing the eight run lead to five (9-4).

Cortland held the Lakers at bay in the top half of the 7th inning and scored another run on a wild pitch to cut the Laker lead to 9-5 going into the 8th inning.

In the top of the 8th inning, Levine hit ANOTHER homerun to center field, bringing the lead back to five runs for the Lakers (10-5).

Again the Red Dragons did not take lightly to the Levine homerun, scoring seven runs in the bottom half of the inning, bringing the Red Dragons to a two-run lead 12-10.

12-10 remained the score in the top half of the 9th inning and the Lakers were eliminated from the SUNYAC tournament in a heart-breaking loss.

Levine had SIX RBI's in the game with an intentional walk, three hits and two homeruns.

This will conclude the Lakers' 2023 season with a final record of 20-21.
