Delaney Scores Six in Loss To Cortland In SUNYAC's

CORTLAND, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Cortland to take on the Red Dragons in the SUNYAC semifinals. The men's season ended this afternoon, despite early success in the game. Senior Jack Delany led the way for the Lakers, scoring six goals in the loss. 

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 10 (7-6, 5-2 SUNYAC), Cortland 20 (13-4, 7-1 SUNYAC)

Location: Red Stadium, Cortland, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jack Delany got Oswego on the board early, netting a goal just seven seconds into the game. 

  • Just 30 seconds later, Cortland responded and tied the game at one. 

  • Five minutes would pass before Delany scored his second goal of the game, giving the Lakers the lead again. 

  • Trey Jones extended the Lakers lead to two just a minute later, the score would be 3-1. 

  • Delany scored two goals just a minute apart, giving Oswego a four goal lead with six minutes left.

  • The Red Dragons netted their second goal with 3:29 remaining in the first, making the score 6-2.

  • Liam Sexton scored the final goal of the quarter for Oswego, with two minutes remaining. 

  • Cortland cut the lead to three with 1:13 remaining, and the score would be 6-3 going into quarter two. 

  • The second quarter was not one to remember for Oswego. The Red Dragons tacked on seven goals, with Oswego netting just one. Hayden Coney scored the lone goal for Oswego, and the Lakers trailed 10-7 at the half. 

  • Things continued to go in favor of the Red Dragons in the second half, as they pulled away from the Lakers. Cortland added four goals, with Oswego netting two. Delany continued to fight for the Lakers, netting another pair of goals in the third. Delany had six goals at this point, and finished with six.

  • Oswego trailed 14-9 with one quarter remaining in the game. 

  • There would be no fourth quarter comeback for Oswego, as Cortland netted five goals, to Oswego's one. Gavin Elston netted the lone goal of the fourth for Oswego. 

  • The Lakers lost their semifinal game with Cortland by a score of 20-10. 

  • Goalkeeper Aiden Kenyon recorded 17 saves in the loss. 

WHAT'S NEXT

This concluded the men's season, finishing with a 7-6 record.
