OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Field Hockey started their 2023 season off strong under first year Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Hoover won her first career game as a head coach tonight with the 5-2 victory over Manhattanville.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Kate McNally started the scoring for the Lakers 2023 season just 3:12 into the contest. Molly Darcy assisted.

After multiple chances, Erin Schaefer came through for the Green and Gold, putting them up by a margin of two goals.

Some time passed in the quarter with back and forth mid-field action, Manhattanville cut the lead in half with 11:38 remaining in the first quarter.

Just 28 seconds into the second quarter, McNally scored her second goal of the season, putting the Lakers back up by two goals.

Manhattanville had multiple shots and penalty corners from 17:40-19:52, KY Phillips shut them out.

After FOUR straight penalty corners for the home team, Maddie Pflume scored for the Lakers, putting them up three going into the third quarter. This was the Bay Shore, N.Y. native's first career goal and point in the NCAA.

The third quarter went scoreless despite multiple chances for the Lakers and a penalty corner with 5:04 remaining in the quarter for Manhattanville.

Just under ten minutes into the final quarter, Manhattanville cut the lead back to two goals.

The Lakers continued the offensive dominance with four more penalty corner opportunities in the final quarter, Darcy scored with no time on the clock on a penalty stroke to bring their lead to three (5-2).

In 60 minutes played, Phillips finished the game with four total saves.
