OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Field Hockey squad played a very tough game against the Saints of St. Lawrence this afternoon on a beautiful day on the shores of Lake Ontario.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Oswego State 0 (2-5, 0-0 SUNYAC), St. Lawrence 2 (2-3)
Location: Laker Turf Stadium | Oswego State | Oswego, N.Y.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
This contest was tight until the end. The biggest difference maker for the Saints in this contest were their opportunities on penalty corners. The Saints had TEN in the contest and Oswego only had one.
-
Every other statistical category was relatively even, fouls were 16-15 and shots were both exactly the same.
-
The midfield crew for each team was accredited with a more than usual workload this afternoon, with both teams keeping the ball out of their defensive zones, this made for a midfield battle.
-
St. Lawrence played the strategy of not forcing the ball into their offensive zone, but spreading out their players even if it meant passing into their defensive zone. This ate a LOT of the clock after they scored their first goal.
-
Kate McNally had all three of the Lakers' shots in the contest with two of them on goal.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will go on a three game road trip. First at Morrisville on September 20th at 4:00PM, next to Rochester to take on the Yellowjackets of U of R on September 23rd at 12:00pm and finally, Utica University on September 27th at 7:00PM.
