ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Oswego State Volleyball team faced a back to back challenge with St. John Fisher University and University of Rochester earlier today to wrap up the RIT Invitational. Despite strong vigor from the Lakers; the Cardinals and the Yellowjackets pushed through for both games.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The initial match started off slow with strong pushback from the Cardinals for the first set.

During set two and three Oswego gained momentum with a close final score of 21 points with ground held by the Lakers till the end of the first match.

Nyah Dias with 10 assists and Madison Gordon with 7 assists were MVPs for assists in the first and second games respectively.

Sydney Chiffriller and Cara Simplicio led the pack with 5 kills each during the first match.

For the second match Georgia Farry and Cara Simplicio led with 4 kills each.

Frequent kills by opponents coupled with attack errors formed a low pressure system causing the perfect storm for the Lakers.

The Lakers maintained a steady challenge for the opposition in the second game and despite getting stung in the end, they kept the pressure on the Yellowjackets.

The Lakers return to Oswego to defend their home territory in a fiery rivalry with the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons on Tuesday September 26th at 6:00 PM.
