CORTLAND, NY- The #6 SUNY Oswego men's basketball team (16-1, 10-0 SUNYAC) hit the road for SUNY Cortland (8-9, 5-5 SUNYAC) on Saturday for another SUNYAC match-up. The Lakers smothered the Red Dragons 71-52.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers started the game with a three pointer from the reigning SUNYAC athlete of the Week,
Ahkee Anderson. The offense stalled a bit allowing the Red Dragons to grab a small lead but a layup from
Cartier Bowman and a three from
Jeremiah Sparks kept the Lakers close. The Lakers picked up the slack on the defensive end while scoring at will on offense capped off by a dunk from
Jeremiah Sparks giving Oswego a 28-18 advantage at half time.
In the second half, whenever the Red Dragons would try to mount a comeback, the Lakers defense was right there to shut them down. The Lakers had four of their starters scoring in double figures helping them continue to build a second half lead in an important SUNYAC contest. SUNY Oswego continued their hot shooting against the Red Dragons shooting over 50% from the field in the second half. That also included shooting 44% from three-point land in the second half.
Jeremiah Sparks was the leading scorer for the Lakers with 20 points followed by
Ahkee Anderson with 18.
