OSWEGO, NY – SUNY Oswego Athletics is set to announce the first Student-Athletes of the Month for 2024-25. Congratulations to Kathryn Salamida of the women's tennis team and Kyle Rose of the men's soccer team!
Kathryn Salamida has been selected this month after an exceptional start to the 2024-25 women's tennis season. As a singles competitor, Salamida has not lost a match going 10-0 so far. She has played in the second or third position all season and has only gone to three sets, three times. She is also undefeated in doubles competition with her partner Emily Lyga. Their margin of victory has never been smaller than 6-3 in ten matches so far this season. Kathryn is currently ranked first in the SUNYAC for #2 singles, #3 singles, and #2 doubles. Earlier this season, she was named SUNYAC singles player of the week for women's tennis. Salamida is in her senior season and is from Binghamton, NY. Women's tennis will head to Binghamton New York this weekend for three consecutive conference matches where they will look to continue their (10-0) undefeated season.
Kyle Rose has been selected this month after helping the men's soccer team get off to a successful start with a 5-1-2 record. This season, Rose has tallied 35 saves (3rd in the SUNYAC), only 7 goals against (3
rd in the SUNYAC) and a save percentage of .883 (3
rd in the SUNYAC). Rose has started in 6 games for the Lakers with his season high 11 saves coming against Elmira College on September 10
th. Kyle is in his first season with the Lakers and is from Wading River, NY. Men's Soccer will host the SUNY Canton Roo's on Wednesday October 2
nd starting at 4:00 PM.
