NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The SUNY Oswego Field Hockey team hit the road for New Paltz, NY, to take on the 12-1 New Paltz Hawks. The Lakers ultimately fell to the Hawks, 8-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
New Paltz proved to be a difficult challenge for the Lakers this afternoon. In the first quarter, Oswego was unable to generate any offense. The Hawks didn't waste any time regarding getting on the scoreboard. At 3:10, the Hawks took the lead 1-0 on a goal from Rachel Tama. The 1-0 lead held into the halftime break despite the Hawks outshooting the Lakers 8-1.

The second half saw the Hawks string together passes in a more effective manner, which resulted in New Paltz scoring seven goals in the half. The Lakers were outshot 13-0 in the 3rd quarter in what was a busy day for goalkeeper Sam Krautheim. The Lakers, at times, had a difficult time possessing the ball as various turnovers charged the Hawks attack. The Lakers were unable to register a penalty corner, which hindered their ability to get quality shot attempts. Krautheim was able to pick up 15 saves on the afternoon.

Oswego Field Hockey will head to Rochester, NY, to take on Nazareth University on Wednesday, October 16th at 4:00 PM.
