CORTLAND, N.Y. – Oswego Men's Soccer team earned themselves a spot in the SUNYAC playoffs this season. The first round was underway this weekend and the Lakers hit the road for SUNY Cortland to take on the 3 seeded Red Dragons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In true playoff fashion, the two teams sized each other up for the first 25 minutes of the match. Oswego out shot the Red Dragons 6-3 early on trying to put pressure on the Cortland defense. Oswego was also awarded 3 early corners but could not connect on any of them. In the 39th minute of the first half, Benjamin Brooks committed a foul for the Lakers, awarding the Red Dragons a penalty kick that they buried for a 1-0 lead.
The Lakers started the second half still down by one goal to the Red Dragons in a win or go home situation. Unfortunately, Cortland was able to score their second goal of the game in the 54th minute to make the lead 2-0 with 35 minutes left to play. The Lakers continued to out shoot the Red Dragons 20-15 and were even awarded more corners, 11-6. Despite the efforts of the Lakers, they fell in the first round of the SUNYAC Playoffs at Cortland by a score of 2-0.
