St. Lawrence 62(1-0, 0-0 LIBERTY LEAGUE)
Canton, NY, Ronald T. Burkman Gymnasium

HOW IT HAPPENED
Oswego had an early scare starting their season with a score of 0-5. They waived that fear by quickly getting back in the game and matching St. Lawrence's opening 5 points. Oswego couldn't be stopped in the first period going on a 12-3 run. Macey DeOrdio and Sydney Hoefs had 4 each to help Oswego close out the first on top. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers were the memo to start the 2nd. Both teams combined for 11 turnovers. 11 was more than the number of field goals made. There were 4 lead changes in the quarter but the Saints ended the quarter up 3. Jackie Malley was at the front of the pack in scoring with 7 for St Lawrence. McGraith, for Oswego, had 7 as well leading scoring.

Talk about coming out hot. The Saints were on absolute fire coming out of the locker room. They got out to their biggest lead of the game at 10 around the 3-minute mark. It was everyone getting involved for St. Lawrence during this run but the usual culprits in Flynn and Cancro were the head of the spear. Oswego trying to stay in the game would call a timeout to regroup. Not too much would change as shooting struggles would haunt the Lakers and the third quarter ended with the Saints up 8.

Oswego needed momentum to change into some green and yellow starting the last period. St. Lawrence is a stubborn, aggressive team and they displayed that to start the 4th extending their lead to 15. Flynn had 5 in the first 2 minutes. Oswego went 5 minutes without scoring to start the 4th. There was a lid on the rim for the Lakers as they shot 0-6 from the field until Giavanna White-Principio would sink a free throw to open the scoring back up. Oswego's fight was evident, going on 6-0 run late in the fourth but it ultimately was not enough and the Saints would pick up their first win of the season 62-44 over Oswego.

White-Principio had an impressive double-double 11 and 13 performance. Logan Nyemchek and Kayla McCraith added 7 as well.
