HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers started off strong, giving the Mustangs no room to breathe, and pressing heavily in their defensive zone, pestering Linville in the net.
Ryan Burke found the back of the net first for the Lakers with 8:44 left in the first period, assisted by Ryan Burke while on the Power Play.
Morrisville found their footing quickly after the goal, recording their first shot almost 13 minutes into the game, and building a bit of momentum.
That momentum lasted for most of the second, as Morrisville held the Lakers scoreless for around 13 minutes, but the Lakers found the back of the net again just a minute into the second, when Matt McQuade scored, assisted by Nico Paone.
Up 2-0, the Lakers continued to dominate, outshooting the Mustangs immensely, but were unable to find the back of the net again.
With the Mustangs down 2-0 going into the third and desperate for a pair of goals, the Lakers capitalized as Justin Ryan scored on the power play just 5 minutes into the third.
Nico Paone found the net again just 5 minutes after Baker, extending the Lakers lead, and putting the Mustangs hopes to rest.
Connor Gatto, assisted by Daniel Colabufo, would make it 5 goals on the power play with 7 minutes remaining in the third, securing the 5-0 win for the Lakers.
Along with the stellar offensive performance by the Lakers, the defense killed 3 penalties in the third period, holding the Mustangs scoreless, and helping Brandon Milberg achieve a shutout on the night.
