OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Basketball advanced to the semi-finals of the SUNYAC tournament after defeating Brockport on Tuesday. They took on the New Paltz Hawks on Friday Evening. The Hawks pulled out a victory late over the Lakers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Oswego jumped all over the Hawks at the start by raining threes.
Zhane Holmes,
Sydney Hoefs, and
Macey DeOrdio all knocked down threes in the first. The Lakers were up by ten after one quarter.
The Hawks battled back in the second, cutting the lead down to six after it ballooned up to twelve off a layup from
Giavanna White-Principio. Baskets from
Logan Castiglione and
Logan Nyemchek kept the Hawks at bay and held a Laker lead 28-22 at the half.
Giavanna White-Principio continued her scoring in the third building the Oswego lead up to twelve with eight minutes left in the third. Later she would hit a layup then increased the lead to fifteen, the highest of the game. With only one quarter remaining, the Lakers were holding a nine-point lead over the number one seed, New Paltz.
After holding the Hawks off for most of the game, Oswego relinquished the lead with thirty seconds remaining, 54-52.
Zhane Holmes went to the line down two, knocked down one of two free throws, and the Hawks secured the rebound. The last second three from
Macey DeOrdio couldn't fall and the Lakers fell in heartbreaking fashion in the SUNYAC semi-finals to the New Paltz Hawks.
White-Principio leads the scorers for Oswego with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Macey DeOrdio added 12 points while
Sydney Hoefs added 12.

This wraps up the season for women's basketball who finish the season with a 14-12 overall record while going 9-9 in the SUNYAC.
