OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Oswego State Men's Basketball team hosted the New Paltz Hawks in the SUNYAC Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon. The Hawks took down the Lakers in dramatic fashion to win their first ever SUNYAC title.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first half, the two teams went back and forth, each taking a turn with the lead. The Hawks shot 57% from the field compared to 46% from the Lakers. The Lakers were able to make up for it shooting a higher percentage from three than the Hawks that was capped off with a last second three from
Jeremiah Sparks to give Oswego a 45-41 lead at the half.
The Lakers came out with serious energy ballooning their lead to fourteen in the first five minutes of play. From that point on, the Hawks seemed to have found a new spark. New Paltz got out on the fast break and began to cut into the Oswego lead. The Lakers took two time outs during their run but the Hawks came all the way back to tie the game at 68 with six minutes remaining. After a few turnovers and missed jumpers, New Paltz built an 8-point lead with three minutes left. In the final Minute,
Jeremiah Sparks hit some big free throws, a layup, and the Lakers forced a 5 seconds out of bounds turnover. However, at the end The Hawks hit their free throws and handed the Lakers their first conference loss of the season in the SUNYAC Tournament Championship.

The Oswego State Lakers will wait to hear from the NCAA Tournament committee on Monday afternoon to see when and where they will continue their season.
