Lakers Take On Case Western For Second Day in a Row

LEXINGTON, S.C. - The Oswego State Baseball team played Case Western Reserve University for the second time in two days. After losing 14-6 to them last time around, the Lakers looked to bounce back today, and came up short, losing 19-1

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego 19, Case Western Reserve University 1

Location: Lexington County Baseball Stadium | Lexington, South Carolina

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the bottom of the third, after a couple of walks, and a stolen base by Greg Carullo, Owen Parliament would hit a single into left field, bringing home Carullo for the first run of the game.

Jonah Shearer held the Spartans scoreless through the first four 4 innings from the mound, allowing 5 hits in those innings.

The top of the fifth would bring bad news for the Lakers, as a deep hit to center field would bring home a Spartan runner, tying up the game. Another runner would get home for the Spartans following a single into left field, and a wayward pitch from Jonah Shearer would allow a third runner to get home, and end Shearer's day on the mound.

Larry Citrola would come in for Shearer with the bases loaded, allowing 4 more runs. He wouldn't make it out of the fifth, though, as he was taken out for Jai Sharma, who would finally close out the inning, allowing 5 more runs, making it a 12 run inning for the Spartans.

The Spartans would extend their lead in the top of the 7th, scoring 2 runs, before a pitching change for the Lakers. Sean Clifford would come in for the Lakers, allowing 4 more runs, increasing the CWRU lead to 18-1.

James Lindsley came in to finish the game, and a home run to start off the 8th inning would make it 19-1. A diving grab from Brian Brezosky would close out the inning, as the Lakers looked to control the damages.

The game was scoreless in the ninth, and the Lakers were defeated by a score of 19-1.
