MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Oswego State Softball team faced off against the University of Scranton Royals. The Lakers emerged victorious 10-8, benefiting from a third inning spark where they earned six runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Fiona Higgins started on the mound for the Lakers and held the Royals to zero hits in the first. In the bottom of the first,
Kira Wright hit a single and then advanced to second on a sacrifice fly. Higgins then hit a double to left field. Scranton got their final out, which left two Oswego runners stranded.
With Scranton runners on first and third, a single brought in their first run. The Royals were able to score their second run after an infield error. In the bottom of the second,
Kylie Detz hit a single,
Tahlia Gerardi got walked, and Detz advanced to third, but both were left stranded.
Lily Fanea got a single to bring in the tying runs and then advanced to second from an infield error. Oswego got an additional four runs, highlighted by a triple from
Lillian Haggerty, to make the score 6-2.
In the top of the fourth, the Royals had runners on first and third. A single to center field brought in the lead runner, which was then followed by a double. The next batter hit another double to bring in two runs to make the score 6-5.
In the fifth, the first Scranton batter reached first on an infield error, later advanced to second, and got brought in from a single to tie up the game. Oswego then made a double play to wrap up the Royals time at bat. Oswego had the bases loaded with no outs when
Mackenzie Carlson hit a double to right center and brought in two runs. Wright reached first on an error to fill the bases once more. DiPalma walked and Haggerty came home to make the score 9-6.
In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on first and second, Wright singled to bring in the tenth run, lengthening Oswego's lead.
In Scranton's last chance at bat, they had a runner on third who made it home from a single to center field. The next batter singled and the lead runner advanced to third. The runner on first advanced to second and the following batter made it to second. The Lakers returned
Fiona Higgins to the mound who was able to close out the Royals securing the Lakers win, 10-8.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will play their last game in Myrtle Beach later this afternoon at 3 p.m. against the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
