HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1

C. McCarthy starts the Lakers with a double to center field, followed by D. Winchester who shoots the ball up the middle, bringing McCarthy home and putting the Lakers on the board. Oswego leads 2-0 after O. Parliamen doubles to left field earning an RBI with T. Featherst scoring the run.

Oswego falls behind in the second inning 3-2, after three consecutive outs and two dropped flies in the infield due to a glaring sun, obstructing the outfielders' vision.

The Lakers tie the game 3-3 in the top of the third with a homer from T. Featherst. Holding on to their momentum, Oswego closed out the third with two strikeouts and a fly-out, followed by a home run to left field by O. Parliamen, giving Oswego the 4-3 lead.Â

Oswego brings in another run in the fifth from a singled RBI by O. Parliamen, bringing J. Hamer home, forcing the Sea Gulls to switch out their pitcher. A. Conrad is brought in to pitch for the Lakers in the bottom of the fifth with two players on base. Salisbury sneaks in a run before the Lakers close the inning with a strikeout.

The Sea Gulls tied the game 5-5 in the sixth followed by three quick innings after a rapid exchange on the diamond, both teams completing nine back-to-back outs, forcing the game into extra innings.

With one out, the Lakers have players on first and second as the Sea Gulls bring a new pitcher out of the bullpen. After retiring O. Parliamen, the pitcher for Salisbury is subbed out. Oswego gets their third out from a line drive to left field, giving Salisbury the chance to walk it off.Â

With two outs, the Sea Gulls hit a single to right center, allowing their player on first to advance to third. Salisbury puts a pinch hitter at the plate, but with a ground to third, the player is retired, pushing the game into an eleventh inning.

The crowd filled with excitement and anticipation, the game continues into a thirteenth inning, with not a single run scored in seven consecutive innings.

After a single to third, a walk, followed by a wild pitch and intentional walk leaving the bases loaded for the Sea Gulls. Salisbury's batter hits a single RBI, giving them the win for the first game.

After a tense start with no scoring in the opening three innings, the fourth inning saw the Lakers break through the silence as B. VanDreaso doubled to right center field, followed by an RBI single from J. McLaughli putting the first run on the board for the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, Salisbury takes the lead with two solo homers, leaving the Lakers trailing behind 1-2.

S. Dertinger subs in for pitcher J. Shearer after three back-to-back hits by pitches leaving the bases loaded with only one out. The Lakers showcase a remarkable defense prowess by executing a clutch forced out at home, followed by a swift flip to second for the third out, successfully fending off the Sea Gulls and preventing further damage on the scoreboard.Â

In the top of the sixth, Oswego Lakers are recording nine hits in this game, with runners in place on second and third, an optimal scoring position to build back their lead.

B. Brezosky hits a sacrifice ground ball to bring O. Parliamen home, tying the game back at 2-2.

After a scoreless seventh inning, B. VanDreaso hits a two-run homer giving the Lakers a 4-2.Â

The Lakers hold off the Sea Gulls from hits in the eighth inning and then hold them from runs in the ninth to end the game in a win for the Lakers.

The Oswego State Lakers will travel to Pennsylvania on March 9, to take on Swarthmore College at 1:30 p.m.
