OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Softball team hosted the Geneseo Knights for a doubleheader feature. During the first game, each team was only able to bring in one run. In extra innings the Lakers pulled through to get their first conference win. In the second game, Oswego was unable to match Geneseo's time at bat and they lost 13-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1:
Fiona Higgins started on the mound for the Lakers. Geneseo started the first inning by bringing in one run.
In the bottom of the third,
Mattison Phinney reached first on an infield error to bring in
Kira Wright which tied up the game.
The following four innings were scoreless. The score remained in a 1-1 tie and the game headed into extra innings.
In the bottom of the eighth,
Grace DiPalma singled up the first baseline and later stole second. Phinney got walked, and
Lily Fanea singled to right field to bring in the game winning run in walk off fashion. This also gave the Lakers their first conference win of the season.
Game 2:
The Knights had a big second inning, where they scored six runs, giving them a substantial lead over the Lakers. Their time at the plate in the second featured a 3RBI homerun.
Geneseo had runners on first and second in the top of the fourth. A double down the third baseline brought in two runs. This was followed by another double which brought in run number three of the inning to make the score 9-0.
In the fifth inning, the Knights got an additional four runs and got three quick outs to end the game victorious 13-0.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers return to action tomorrow with a doubleheader against SUNY Brockport at 3 and 5 p.m.
