OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Softball team hosted the Brockport Golden Eagles this afternoon. The Lakers had a stellar fourth inning where they earned six runs and later earned an additional two in the fifth giving them the 8-0 win. In the second game, Oswego was unable to get the necessary runs needed to overtake the Golden Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1:
Oswego had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the fourth. All runners advanced on a passed ball with
Lily Fanea making it home to bring in the first run.
Kira Wright then hit a double to the left field fence to bring in two runs.
Grace DiPalma hit a double to right field which brought in an additional two runs. DiPalma later scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-0.
In the bottom of the fifth,
Lillian Haggerty singled to bring in two runs which brought the final score to 8-0.
Fiona Higgins pitched 5 complete innings for the lakers allowing just 3 hits and striking out 6. At the plate, she collected her 100
th career hit in game 1!
Game 2:
In the first inning, DiPalma made it home following a ground out to put the Lakers on the board early.
Brockport scored off of a double in the top of the third with zero outs. The next batter singled to center field, bringing in another run and edging the Golden Eagles ahead 2-1.
In the top of the fourth with two outs, a Brockport single up the right side brought in two runs.
With one out in the bottom of the fifth,
Mackenzie Carlson hit a double up the third baseline which brought in two runs and now Oswego was only down one run, 4-3.
In the top of the sixth with two outs and the bases loaded, a Golden Eagle doubled to left field to bring in three runs pushing Brockport up 7-3. That score would hold giving the Golden Eagles the win in game two.
Maria Lutz and
Chelsea Sellars were on the mound for the Lakers in game two.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will face off against St. John Fisher University at home tomorrow with start times of 3 and 5 p.m.
