BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Softball team traveled to Buffalo State where they took two losses. Oswego was strong at the beginning of the first game but was unable to put up the runs later on to beat the Bengals. In game two, the Lakers did not score until the fourth but by then it was too late to make a comeback.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1:
Oswego began with a leg up over Buffalo State. With two outs,
Grace DiPalma got brought in after
Lily Fanea reached second on an infield error.
Fiona Higgins singled to right center which allowed Fanea to score. The Bengals, matching the Lakers, brought in two runs from a single. Buffalo State then hit a two-run homer to left field to bring the score up 4-2.
In the second inning,
Lillian Haggerty made it home following a single from
Mattison Phinney. A single from Fanea brought in an additional two runs which gave Oswego the 5-4 lead.
Buffalo State scored twice in the fourth to take back the lead. The first on a triple to right center and the second on a sacrifice fly.
In the fifth,
Katarina Agerter made it home to tie up the game after
Ellie Mahoney reached first on an infield error. The Bengals scored two more runs, the first from a single down the first baseline, and the second from a sacrifice fly.
Buffalo State got three quick outs in the top of the seventh to end the game with an 8-6 Bengal win.
Game 2:
In the bottom of the first, Buffalo State scored four runs. The first two came from singles through the left side. The third came from a walk and the fourth from a single to center field.
The Bengals added three to their tally in the bottom of the third. The first run came after a ground out, the second from a single through the left side and the third from another ground out.
Oswego scored four runs in the fourth in an effort to make a comeback. Agerter scored from a double by Mahoney, Fanea from a sacrifice fly and DiPalma walked to bring in
Christina Kania and Haggerty.
In the bottom of the fifth, Buffalo State scored four more to take the 12-4 win. The Bengals scored off two doubles, a sacrifice fly and a single.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will next go head-to-head against the Blue Devils of Fredonia State as Oswego continues their weekend away. Game times will be at 12 and 2 p.m. tomorrow.
