HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1:

Fredonia scored twice in the first inning, leaving the Lakers down 2-0. In the top of the second, Tahlia Gerardi from the Lakers hit a single but advanced to second on an error by center field, bringing home Katarina Argerter and Fiona Higgins, and putting the Lakers on the board, tying the game, 2-2. Oswego fell behind by six runs in the bottom of the second after two walks and four hits.

The Lakers mounted a comeback scoring four runs in the fourth inning, bringing their deficit down to two! Jenna Mills singles, advancing Fiona Higgins(previously walked) to third. The Lakers' first run came from a single RBI by Tahlia Gerardi. Then, Kira Wright hit a single and advanced to second on the throw as Jenna Mills ran home. The last two runs scored by Oswego in the inning came from Kira Wright and Tahlia Gerardi as Grace DiPalma singled.

The Lakers held on to this momentum and shut down the Blue Devils in the bottom of the fourth with a quick three outs and no runs. Lillian Haggerty scored in the top of the sixth from another RBI single hit by Grace Dipalma. Right after this, Mackenzie Carlson hits a sacrifice fly, to bring Kira Wright home to tie the game 8-8.

The Blue Devils fought back and scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth, leaving the Lakers with only one more at-bat to win the game or tie it and go into extra innings. Fredonia ended the first game with three straight outs against Oswego in the seventh inning.

Game 2:

The Lakers started strong, scoring two runs right off the bat! Grace DiPalma hits a double at the first at-bat. Mattison Phinney is brought home from Lily Fanea's single RBI.  Oswego holds on to this momentum in the infield, not letting the Blue Devils score any runs in the bottom of the first.

Fredonia ties the game 2-2 in the second inning, but not for long, as Oswego earns two more runs in the third. We saw the first home run of the game in the bottom of the third by the Blue Devils, boosting them up a run, but still down 3-4. An uneventful fourth inning goes by quickly as both teams get three almost immediate outs each.

Lily Fanea singles and advances to second on a passed ball, followed by a double by Fiona Higgins, sending Fanea home and increasing the Lakers' lead by 1 in the fifth. Once again, Oswego furthers their lead in the sixth inning after Jenna Mills hits a single RBI bringing a runner in to make the score 6-3. In the bottom of the inning, Fredonia gains one run but is still down by two.

The Lakers failed to score any more runs in the seventh inning, leaving the Blue Devils with one last chance to take the game back. Fredonia remains determined and scores three runs in the last inning to win the game.
