THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego 18 (10-5, 6-2 SUNYAC), Plattsburgh 3 (3-11, 2-6 SUNYAC)

Location: Plattsburgh State Lacrosse Complex | Plattsburgh, N.Y.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Plattsburgh put themselves on the board by scoring just over a minute into play. Isabella Lembo retaliated two minutes later for the Lakers, making it a tie game. Sela Wiley then edged Oswego ahead, scoring with a man-up. Lembo and Wiley each netted one more before the first quarter came to a close with the Lakers up 4-1.

In the second quarter, Plattsburgh scored their second goal on a free position shot. Madison Davis furthered the lead, scoring another goal for Oswego. A free position shot from the right side gave Plattsburgh goal number three. Wiley scored with a low shot on a man up opportunity that was closely followed by a goal from Davis to make the score 7-3. The following three minutes were scoreless until Maria Buscaglia intercepted a Cardinal pass, sprinted down to Plattsburgh's zone and made a quick pass to Wiley. Wiley scored with a straight shot on goal despite playing with a man-down. Julia Quirk scored at the 2:48 mark on a free position shot, netting one, again playing with a man-down. The score going into halftime was 9-3.

The first goal of the third quarter did not come until the 10:06 mark. Following a turnover, Wiley picked up a ground ball and passed to Noelle Smith who netted Oswego's tenth goal. Later in the game, the Lakers had two free position opportunities that were saved by the Cardinal goalie. Alexis Hill added a goal, which was followed by a free position goal to the right side by Wiley two minutes later. Davis had possession of the ball and passed to Sophie Ruschin who quickly swooped in to add to the Lakers leading tally, of 13-3.

In the final quarter, Davis took a bounce shot that found the back of the net and later Hill took a clear attempt solo to score, adding to Oswego's dominating lead. Quirk took a free position shot straight to the net, scoring with a man up. Wiley netted what appeared to be the last goal of the game at 2:23, but with only seconds of play remaining, the Plattsburgh goalie dropped the ball and Sadie Zamanick picked it up to score the final goal ending the game at 18-3.
