POTSDAM, NY. - The SUNY Oswego Softball team traveled up North to Potsdam, New York to take on the Clarkson University Golden Knights in a double header, and a battle of green and gold.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
The Lakers started off strong, recording 3 runs in the first inning thanks to a plethora of walks, and a 2 RBI single from Fiona Higgins. A single from Grace DiPalma would bring home Kira Wright in the second inning, extending the lead to 4-0.
Clarkson scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the third, making it 4-1, but Ellie Mahoney would respond for the Lakers, hitting a 2 RBI double in the top of the fifth, to give Oswego a 6-1 lead.
The Lakers would tack on two more runs in the top of the sixth, as Mattison Phinney and Grace DiPalma would both make their way home, before a fly out would end the inning.
The seventh inning would stay scoreless, as Fiona Higgins completed the game with 13 strikeouts, allowing just 3 hits through 7 innings, in the Lakers' 8-1 win over the Clarkson Golden Knights.
Game 2
The second game of the double header was a whole different story, as it was the Golden Knights who started off strong this time. A couple of big hits from Clarkson, when combined with a few fielding errors, would put the Lakers behind 7-0 through three innings of play.
Chelsea Sellars, Emma Grasso, and Maria Lutz all pitched for Oswego, but the Lakers were unable to maintain their stride from their first game.
Clarkson's dominance continued in the fourth and fifth innings, as the Lakers recorded just one hit, and were defeated by a score of 8-0.

The Oswego State Softball Team will host SUNY Geneseo this Friday, April 12th, at 3pm for another double header.
