Baseball falls to Hawks ending their season in second game of the day at SUNYAC Championship Tournament

CORTLAND, N.Y. – SUNY Oswego Baseball played their second game of the day and 5th game in two weeks against the SUNY New Paltz Hawks.

Final Score: Oswego 3 (24-16, 10-8 SUNYAC) New Paltz 4 (28-14, 11-7 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Once again, the Lakers were on the board early against the Hawks. Owen parliament hit a two-run home run in the top of the first bringing home Blake Van Dreason who singled to start the game.

New Paltz answered back in the third inning with a solo home run of their own off starting Lakers pitcher Jake Danyluk.

Between the second and seventh inning the Lakers came up with four hits but none of them were able to produce runs. New Paltz came alive after an error from third base and scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 4-2 lead into the eighth.

In the top of the eighth, Van Dreason singled, stole second and was sent home on a double from Owen Parliament cutting the deficit to just one.

Jake Danyluk threw 8 complete innings allowing just two earned runs and striking out four.

In the top of the ninth the Lakers were down 4-3. Trey McGowan led off and was hit by a pitch. The Lakers then struck out three straight times to end the game and their season in Cortland NY to the New Paltz Hawks.
