HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams were pushing on offense to kick this contest off.
Sam Krautheim had an early test, seeing 2 shots in goal in the first 7 minutes. She saved both as well as a defensive save by
Addyson Carrier. Oswego also had a shot on goal in the first 7 minutes, but it was saved. The first goal of the game was for Morrisville with Lily Bagg getting one past Krautheim. The early lead from Morrisville was held throughout the remainder of the first period.
Oswego, just 3 minutes into the second period tied this one right up. It was
Natalie Shields off the pass from
Alexa Snyder. Each team would get off 2 more shots in the second but none went through. Besides the goals by each squad, defense was present in this one.
Coming out of the half, Morrisville was determined to get ahead. They had 2 shots on goal in the first 2 minutes both turned away by Krautheim. For the Lakers, they matched that energy and executed on defense perfectly. Oswego got back on the offensive side later in the period with shots by
Gabby Curtis and
Camila Gallego. The period didn't add any points on the board but was a very exciting 15 minutes.
Oswego came out in full force on offense, putting up 4 shots on the Morrisville goal keeper that were all saved. The deciding goal came with a little over 4 minutes left in the game. It was Chloe Curtis for Morrisville. After a tough defense and very aggressive approach from the Lakers, they fell on the road 2-1.
