U of R Sweeps Oswego State in Double Header

ROCHESTER, NY. - The SUNY Oswego Softball team traveled to Rochester this afternoon, for a double header against University of Rochester.

Oswego 0 ( 5-6, 0-0 SUNYAC )

Univ. Of Rochester 8   (7-8, 0-0 Liberty League )

Oswego 3 (5-7, 0-0 SUNYAC )

Univ. Of Rochester 5   (8-8, 0-0 Liberty League )

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1

Chelsea Sellars got the start on the mound for Oswego State, and after allowing just one hit in the first, gave up two runs in the bottom of the second, making it 0-2 through 2 innings.

U of R would tack on a third run off of a double to center field in the bottom of the third, and then another in the fourth, doubling their lead, and making it 4-0 going into the fifth inning.

The Lakers would remain scoreless, with U of R tacking on 4 more runs in the final two innings, and making it an 8-0 win.

 

Game 2

Maria Lutz got the start in the second game, as the Lakers gave up 2 runs in the first inning, and then another three in the second, putting Oswego down 5-0 through just two innings of play.

Neither team would score in the third or fourth, but Lillian Haggerty would reach on a fielding error, driving home Kira Wright, and getting one run back for the Lakers.

Mattison Phinney would make it 5-2 for Oswego in the sixth, scoring Leah Abbruzzese with an RBI-single to right field.

In the top of the seventh, Kira Wright reached home on a wild pitch, but it wasn't enough, as the Lakers lost by a score of 5-2.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Lakers will head back to Oswego, and host a double header against Clarkson University tomorrow starting at 3:00PM.
