OSWEGO, NY – In a tightly contested matchup, Plattsburgh State (20-6-1) secured a 2-0 road victory over Oswego State (22-3-2) on Saturday. Despite Oswego's offensive pressure, Plattsburgh's defense and goaltending proved too much to overcome earning themselves the SUNYAC Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first period, Molly Riggi broke the deadlock late in the second with an unassisted goal at 18:59, which would stand as the game-winner. Plattsburgh doubled their lead in the third when Tessa Morris found the back of the net off assists from Sydnee Francis and Emily Kasprzak at 12:49.

Oswego generated multiple scoring chances, outdrawing Plattsburgh 30-19 in faceoffs and earning two power-play opportunities in the third period. However, Plattsburgh's goaltender Chloe Lewis was a wall in net, stopping all 17 shots she faced.

Oswego's Lexi Levy also had a strong performance in goal, making 26 saves on 28 shots. The Lakers had multiple shots blocked and struggled to capitalize on their power plays, as Plattsburgh's defense consistently disrupted their shooting lanes.

The loss marks a rare shutout for Oswego, who averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.

Jenna Majewski and Lauren Schell were named to the SUNYAC All Tournament team for their efforts.

WHAT'S NEXT
The women will await the NCAA Committee to see if they earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Tournament field will be announced tomorrow at 8:30 PM.
